This site enables you to create word lists you want your students to learn and to provide sentences in which you want the students to be able to use these words. The quiz generator creates different types of activities with using them (hangmouse, unscrable, missing letters,crosswords, wordsearch, whole word spelling; matching words to the sentences and unscramble sentences). Words and sentences are read (often by a computer program, which makes them sound strange). The main disadvantage for primary school ESL teachers, however, is the impossibility to use images in these activities. Another disadvantage is that you can't embed these activities in your site, apparently.

This site enables English teachers to create different kinds of exercises. The main problem with this site for me seems to be that exercises of that kind are not particularly attractive for students, unless you have a great video to go with them.

This quiz maker would be a perfect solution for creating online exercises (as you can create different types of quizzes and insert even several media sorces into each of its pages) unless teachers had to pay for using it. There's also a free option, but it is not allowed, as it seems, to bet embeded into an educational site, which makes it pretty useless. Still, teachers different discussions went on praising this free option, so maybe I've misunderstood something about its terms of use.

QuizRevolution

The free version of this quizmaker enables you only to create multiple choice exercises. Some advanteges of using it are the possibility to insert a video, pictures, audio or texts and the ability to embed it into the page. To take it one more time, however, you need to re-enter the page as there are no buttons to start it anew after finishing it. It's also add-free.

Picturetrail

A very nice and easy to use program for creating slideshows. Unfortunately, without sound. Some of my students' favourite formats are 'Puzzle' and 'Boxes':
